Over the past few months I’ve been struggling a bit. I’ve been trying to find the right topic to write about in the way of marketing. We’ve experimented over the years on mixing technical implementations, content messaging, marketing tutorials and even the abstract concepts within marketing. These are all well and good but they’re not necessarily unique.
We’re surrounded, constantly, by marketing noise. How do people differentiate one from the other as marketers stand on their soapboxes shouting their expertise (guilty as charged) trying to make their way to the top of the marketing pack? The answer: it’s difficult and often folks can’t bridge that gap.
I don’t really see any value in that and I don’t think the general passerby’s do either.
I started talking with one of our clients and thinking about what makes our company truly unique. It’s simple:
I love my business partner. Literally.
We started nDigit just over 3 years ago together almost a month after we started dating. Everyone thought we were insane. We got the “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” from every..single…angle. But here we are, over 3 years later, finally making a difference. It’s funny how the narrative changes after that.
The discussions move from doubt to curiosity.
How is it possible? My wife and I would kill each other if we sat next to each other all day.
The truth is: It doesn’t actually bother us at all. Our relationship was built at the same time we built our business. When I’m having a bad day, I look over at her and she makes it better..and vice versa (or so I tell myself). The stress of owning a business is then shared. We’re never alone in it.
This isn’t a life that’s meant for everyone. But it’s ours..and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
