The web is shifting. It’s moving in the direction of personalization and customer satisfaction. The two are becoming increasingly important to the success of a business. Customers who receive a personalized experience are 42% more likely to convert[1].

Personalizing the experience will lead to greater conversions, leads and increase your overall customer satisfaction. Thankfully, there are products to help you get started personalizing your website. If you’re familiar with Drupal, then you’re a step ahead. Drupal paired with the Acquia Lift platform will allow you to change the content based on a number of different characteristics. I’ll explain more in the sections below.

How to Get Started

Acquia offers free accounts to companies who are looking to test out their product. If you’ve never seen Acquia’s platform — I recommend signing up for an Acquia account just to mess around with it. Shameless plug: As an Acquia Partner we can help you get started and in contact with a sales representative that will help guide you through the process.

What is Acquia Lift?

Here is a brief overview of what Acquia Lift is. Essentially, it’s a system developed by Acquia that allows you to personalize the content on your website. If someone visits for the first time — display this text. They’re coming in from Boston? Show them this text.

It gives you complete control so that the content on your website is customized to the user’s presumed preferences.

What does it look like?

Take a look at the following image. You’ll see how Acquia Lift breaks down the process. You create a Campaign, Segment that campaign (users from Boston, etc.), then assign variations (variations of a specific page based on the segments).

You can see here how easy it is. It breaks down everything into What, Why, Who and When. Of course you’ll need to set up a few things beforehand, but you get the overall idea here.

Benefits of Using

As people are visiting your site, you have a number of different benefits to this approach. I could write an entire article solely on this topic. Here are just a few reasons:

1.) It costs less than traditional marketing

Content Marketing and personalization costs about 62% less than traditional marketing [2]. You can actually save money by implementing personalization.

2.) Personalization will increase your sales

Did you know that 35% of Amazon’s revenue comes from it’s recommendation engine [3]? Personalizing the content for users leads to increased user satisfaction. They are more likely to purchase items and become returning customers.

3.) It builds stronger customer relationships

Think about it — when you go somewhere and they know what you like, it’s awesome. It’s like going to your favorite restaurant and the waiter hands you your favorite drink and asks if you want to get that appetizer you always get. You may not necessarily want it, but you’re more likely to just go ahead and purchase it because they offered the decision for you. This eliminates the hassle of choosing. People love not being forced to choose.
